AIOU to lunch Master-degree program in TV production in Feb next
ISLAMABAD, December 15 (Online): Allama Iqbal Open University(AIOU) will lunch two-year face- to-face Master Degree program in TV production in February next to meet the requirement of working journalists and to help further strengthening the professional skill.
Necessary arrangements for launching the program have been completed, this was stated by the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Shahid Siddiqui while addressing the opening session of 5-day long script-writing workshop on radio and television production that was arranged by the University’s Institute of Educational Technology(IET) for the faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies.
Eminent resource persons would be involved in in teaching process to make the degree program worthwhile an effective.
It will be for the first time that a public sector educational institution will launch such a program in a specialized media field. The enrollment for the admission will be started from Spring Semester 2015. Initially it will be the Islamabad-based program. Later, it would be extended to other cities in light of the feed-back.
The script-writing workshop is a part of the ongoing skill-based training series. Dr. Siddiqui said that he would attach top priority to professional development aimed at improving the professional skill of the University’s employees in order to provide best possible services to the students.
In this connection, suitable and relevant professional training courses and programs are being arranged from time to time.
Dr. Siddiqui lauded the role of Media in promotion of education across the country. Media is now one of the major ‘Social Institution’ that play a significant role in strengthening society and disseminating knowledge, he added.
Earlier Director IET Muhammad Qasim Haider highlighted aims and objectives of the workshop. He said IET has been conducting various Script-writing’s training workshop for each the faculty throughout the year. A number of radio/tv programmes have been produced by IET. The department also working for introduction of a TV channel for which necessary spade-work is already in progress.
