JIT – issues notices to Model Town tragedy witnesses
LAHORE, Nov 28 (ONline): A Joint Investigation Team (JIT), which was formed by the Punjab government, probing Model Town tragedy issued notices Friday to witnesses of the incident.
According to media reports following a boycott by Dr Tahriul Qadri-led Pakistan Awami Tehreek no one from the party appeared before the JIT to record their statements.
In the given situation, the JIT has now issued notices to witnesses asking them to record their statements before the JIT as soon as they receive notices.
At least 14 people died in Model Town Lahore outside the residence of Qadri after brutal crackdown by Punjab police against PAT workers in June.
Qadri had been demanding resignation from Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif before formation of an independent JIT to probe the incident.
