LAHORE, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday reiterated his government’s commitment to end the menace of power outages in the country.

Speaking to a ceremony held to mark 1998 nuclear tests, Prime Minister Sharif said that he would not sit idle till the elimination of load-shedding.

“We are self-sufficient in defence field and now time has come to become self-reliant on economic fronts,” he said.PM Reaffirms resolve to end power crisis

The prime minister said that his government was setting up small power generation units to produce sufficient electricity for the country.

“One power unit is being built at the cost of Rs100 billion,” he stated, adding that it was his government’s responsibility to generate electricity for the next 20 years.

“We need Rs1000 billion to generate 5000 megawatts of electricity which will be enough to our needs.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed the resolve to make Pakistan economically viable and self-reliant.

He said several projects in this regard have been started to realize this dream.

He said it is part of his faith to fulfill aspirations of the people.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed his firm resolve to eradicate the menaces of darkness, poverty, illiteracy, and backwardness from the country.

PM said what type of nuclear were we where corruption reigned supreme along with other menaces.

He said being atomic power, problems like poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and load shedding etc should have been eradicated long ago.

The PM said country had already achieved self reliance in the field of defense, and now it was the high time to focus to make Pakistan economically viable and self-reliant.

“We are self-sufficient in defence field and now time has come to become self-reliant on economic fronts,” he said.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan wants to have friendly relations with its neighbors to reap the fruit of progress and prosperity.

He said China has always stood Pakistan in the hour of trial.

He said that the Lahore Karachi Motorway project will also be launched soon.

He said that Metro Bus Project, after its success in Lahore, is being completed in Rawalpindi-Islamabad to provide international level transport facilities to people.
