Political Jirga appeals to all sides to demonstrate flexibility
Islamabad, Sept 18 , Members of the Political Jirga say almost all issues have been tackled satisfactorily with the exception of definition of what constitutes rigging.
They were talking to media after their meetings with PTI and PAT negotiating teams in Islamabad on Thursday.
Leader of the Jirga and Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq expressed the confidence that an honourable solution to the political crisis would be found.
He said the Jirga prepared its draft proposals with consensus and sent to the Government, PTI and PAT after showing it to the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah. He said they are expecting positive response but it seems the three sides are looking towards each other to take the lead.
Sirajul Haq appealed to the three sides to step back from their stated positions to take the nation out of the prevailing crisis.
PPP leader Rehman Malik said the Prime Minister has publicly stated that he would resign if charges of rigging are proved. He said the Jirga proposed that the Prime Minister should make this announcement from the floor of the Parliament.
Rehman Malik said the Jirga asked PTI and PAT to announce when they are going to end their sit-ins as people have become wary of the exercise continuing for over one month.
Another member of the Jirga Mir Hasil Bizenjo said there should be ceasefire from all sides to create congenial atmosphere for the talks to resume and succeed.
